Supplier Diversity

The supplier diversity process focuses on developing contracting opportunities and relationships with historically underutilized businesses (HUBs). Our diversity supplier inclusive sourcing process cultivates community economic development, builds successful business relationships with HUBs and supports our clients’ supplier diversity purchasing goals. MedAssets defines HUBs, or diverse suppliers, as certified minority-, women-, service-disabled or veteran-owned and disadvantaged small businesses.

Diversity Suppliers must be certified by a third party agency before the supplier registration due date indicated on our bid calendar.

Supplier Diversity Criteria
You must register as a prospective supplier before MedAssets will send you RFP materials in connection with any bid category. MedAssets requires the following documentation to properly register you to bid on a category as a prospective supplier. If you do not provide all of the required documentation before the supplier registration due date indicated on the bid calendar, then MedAssets will not include you in any RFP distribution.

All diversity suppliers must provide:

  • Tax identification number
  • PDF of marketing materials, featuring products or services
  • Third-party diversity certification
  • Manufacturers must also submit:
    • Material Safety Data Sheets
    • ISO Certification 9000, 9001, 9002, 13485
    • Product liability insurance
    • Manufacturer contact information (name of facility, address, telephone number)

We evaluate every diverse supplier’s business and ability to participate in a Request for Information (RFI) or Request For Proposal (RFP) based on meeting specific requirements. The requirements must be met before the supplier registration due date indicated on the bid calendar. Requirements include:

  • Certification from one of the following third party agencies:
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) or its affiliates
  • National Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMSDC) or its affiliates
  • For-profit business enterprise status, which means the supplier is at least 51 percent owned, operated, and controlled by a United States citizens who belongs to one of the following groups:
    • Women
    • African American
    • Asian American (Indian and Pacific)
    • Hispanic American
    • American Indian
    • Veteran or Service-disabled Veteran small business
  • Small disadvantaged business, which means the supplier falls into one of the following categories:
    • 8(a) Business Development Program
    • HUBZone
    • Small Disadvantaged Business Program
  • Minimum three-year business history
